St Stephens Primary School, Launceston

Unusual for us to dance a Thursday afteroon but we were very happy to go along to St Stephens primary school in Launceston to dance to their years 4 and 5 as part of them looking at folk music.

We actually did two sessions back-to-back in their hall, one for each class. Each class was very attentinve and asked questions about what we do, our hats and baby Ada who was in attendence! After a quiet Ow Tevi and a Bear Down Man we danced a Boscastle Breakdown before demonstrating Tinners Rabbit then getting them all to join in for two rounds of the dance!

We finished off by offering them a choice of dances but on both occasions they went for “the stick fight” which was an Upton-upon-Seven! It proved to be a hot time for us as we’re not used to dancing in a heated environment.

No photos of the dancing as we were in a school environment but we were assured that the kids had had a great time! There is, however, a lovely write-up from the academy on their Facebook page here.
